Widnell has been appointed as QS’s for the 100,000m2 Shanghai Shimao commercial development on the principal axis of Shanghai North Bund Centre Business Area.

Widnell’s Director responsible for Shanghai operations, Alan Lam said “The project forms one of the key developments in the North Bund area in Hongkou district. The area will see significant investment over the next few years and is intended to form a new focal point for Shanghai”.

The development has two 33 storey towers and a three floor podium. One of the 33 floor towers will be a 520 room, five star Hyatt hotel with the other tower developed as serviced apartments. Facilities in the podium include shopping mall, club, restaurant, and a luxury banqueting hall.

Shimao group has invested in China for more than 20 years, including projects in Beijing, Shanghai, Lanzhou, the Zhengshi Development Zone, Wuyi, and, more recently, projects such as the Asian Game Garden, Hua-Ao Centre, Purple Bamboo Garden and Imperial Landscape Garden.
