Corporate social responsibility

Widnell Sweett subscribes to the following definition of Corporate Social Responsibility:

“Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as the local community and society at large”

Widnell Sweett as provider of professional services upholds the highest standards of honesty and integrity and as we owe a duty to the community, employers, contractors and their employees, we act professionally and practice our code of ethics to promote integrity within the construction industry.

Professional ethics and conduct
Our business dealings are conducted strictly according to all statutory rules and regulation and we perform our work objectively and impartially and free from influence of any consideration which may conflict with this requirement. No member of Widnell Sweett will solicit or accept advantages when conducting business on behalf of the company.

Responsibility to the environment
Widnell Sweett is committed to minimising its impact on the environment by tracking the carbon footprint of our office and raising awareness to reduce carbon emissions. Resources used by Widnell Sweett are recorded and tabulated on a regular basis and the release of Carbon into the environment is calculated in order to track and monitor our planned improvement in the use of energy in our business.

The use of paper is a major component of our delivered work in the form of printed documents. We have instituted electronic capture of information and we are researching electronic methods to minimise paper use. All waste paper from our work goes to recycling.

Quality of life
Widnell Sweett is committed to the health, well being and safety of its staff and provides a healthy and safe work environment in its offices. We encourage all staff to attain and maintain a high degree of skill and initiative in order to fulfill their duties and maintain their lifestyle. We encourage our staff to achieve and advance their skills through company initiatives of training and study.

Widnell Sweett emphasises work-life balance by having an active social and recreational group which organises activities and interaction within the company, other organizations and the community.
